One of my clients works with Human-Animal Bond in Tennessee (H.A.B.I.T.) I have photographed her dogs once and learned about the program at that time. I thought it was a great and wanted to share it with you. Here is one of their most recent newsletters.

Top Dog

Some of  you may remember several years ago when I used to mail newsletters out- I had a photo of my cat, my dog and myself. It was my “staff” photo- with my dog Holly being the “Top Dog.”

I am saddened to report my Top Dog passed this week.  She was with me 11 years.  She spent a lot of time at my feet while I edited images or did my accounting.  She frequently traveled with me to Fed Ex to ship wedding albums.  This past December I put a Santa hat on and gave her reindeer antlers and we delivered photographs to the Young-Williams Animal Center (Santa Claws photos.)  It is a really nice memory.

I will miss her sweet spirit greatly.  However I am so delighted to have many photographs of her that I love.  These photographs make me smile and remind me of  many good times.  Her name is Haleakala- it’s Hawaiian meaning the “House of the Sun”. We called her Holly (Hale) for short.

I hope you have good photographs of your beloved friend(s).

Community Shares Circle of Change Awards

The Community Shares Circle of  Change Award ceremony is April 17, 2010.  Once again I am creating the video for the program.  This is a 15 minute video introducing the five award winners to the audience.  It is a big job as I’m not a videographer, but thanks to my powerbook things are way easier than they used to be!

Congratualations to Green Car & Courier,  Isabel Deeter, Evelyn Gill, Bill Murrah and David Massey- this year’s winners!

Other interests of mine…

My friends know that my hobby is hobbies!  Thanks to my Mac Powerbook I’m able to do a lot of fun stuff- maybe you have visited my podcast-www.WRENRADIO.COM  – where I do monthly podcasts about bird songs and how to remember them.

My current interest is the ukulele…and yes, I’ve gone a little nuts and created a website  www.ukeladies.com and I’m teaching beginner classes! (includes a “luau” !!)

Stay tuned to find out what my next endeavor will be!

11th Anniversary!

March 18, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

March 17, 2010 marks the 11th anniversary of my business!  Wow- so many changes along the way- two different studio location, five cameras, four computers, I don’t even want to think about all the software changes and updates!

One thing that has not changed, my love for photography and my desire to create stunning images in a fun and painfree manner.  I try to make my work look natural but still flattering- I think of it as composed – not over posed.  I do this by trying to get to know my clients and creating a fun and relaxing atmosphere.

Thank you to all my clients who have supported my work for so many years.  I look forward to my next decade as a professional photographer!

Saddened at loss of fellow professional photographer.

Although I never met him, I knew Shannon Stanfield from his work and his reputation.  I was astonished to learn of his passing today.  He was battled cancer for two years and passed at the young age of 45.  On his blog he talks about how busy he was this past Christmas season and how he was spending as much time as possible with his children– making up for all the nights and Saturdays he spent photographing weddings.

Shannon’s life will live on through his work.  I know all his clients will forever cherish the beautiful portraits he created.

An “interesting” studio!

February 16, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Not your ordinary family?  Not your ordinary photographer or studio!  The Interesting Developments studio is located in Historic Old North Knoxville.  While it is technically on the lower level of  The Scott Project building, it has the feel of a downtown loft.  It’s high ceilings, exposed beams and exposed brick give it a warm and inviting ambience unlike what standard commercial buildings offer.

The building was built in the early 1940s and among other things it once was a “religious artifacts store.”  It currently houses five small businesses and a non-profit organization.  Many people believe that The Scott Project is visited by a ghost-as footsteps can be heard even though no one else is in the building!  Come visit for yourself!

Wedding Previews

Tonight I meet with Debbie and Robert to show them their wedding images.  I’m looking forward to showing them some images that I did some artwork on– hand tinting, soft focus and other work.  I love creating the wedding album almost as much as I love photographing weddings.  To see the images all together to re-tell the story is delightful.
