Just back from PPA!

I just returned from Nashville after attending the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) annual convention. Lots of inspiration, ideas and really cool gear!
Now it’s time to use all those tips and information for my family portraiture, weddings, pets and event photography! Looking forward to getting back into my studio to create some stunning work.
Professional Photographers of America Conference

This week is my national professional conference! It is in Nashville this year and I’m excited to see the trade show and learn some new techniques! I’ve been a member of PPA since 1999 when I first opened my business. PPA offers workshops, conferences, local and state meetings and competitions, as well a monthly magazine that always keeps me inspired.
2010 – and off to a terrific start!

I started the year off with a wedding on “palindrome” day (1/2/2010 – the day where the date is the same backwards or forwards!) It was a gorgeous wedding at a church in Louisville, Tennessee. The church was still decorated for Christmas and it was a beautiful brick sanctuary. The afternoon wedding sun was streaming through the windows and looked fantastic on the back of the bride.
It was a very cold day- but warm inside!

This year’s Santa Claws event was another success- with hundreds of dogs, 5 ferrets, a rabbit, a goat and a handful of cats and kittens joining in the fun! The event is a fund raiser for the Young Williams Animal Center and it looks like Interesting Developments helped them raise a good bit of money for the animals.
Probably one of the most fun things for me at this event is seeing clients come back with more animals! Many of the animals are shelter pets and the volunteers at the Center remember them. It’s a tail wagging event and I love to do it.

bring your sweeties to Santa Claws this year!
Hey everyone it’s almost time to bring the pets in for their portrait with Santa at the Young-Williams Animal Center! This is a terrific fund raiser and I am proud to be involved in it again this year. The dates are Nov 21 & 22 at Agrifeed on Middlebrook Pike and then again December 5 & 6 at the Young-Williams Animal Center.
Of course you can always bring your pet to my studio for beautiful portraits of you and your pet or just your pet! All are welcome at my studio!

Mid-Summer Evening Portrait Session

Party Animals! Wedding at the Zoo!

This past weekend I photographed a wedding at the Knoxville Zoo. It was a lot of fun- my favorite image is of the groomsmen in front of the penguins. The zoo has gorgeous lush foliage everywhere which made for beautiful backdrops. The groom is a fire fighter- so they rode down to the reception tent on a fire truck- lights and sirens going!
It was a fantastic party and a very sweet couple! Congrats to the newlyweds!

Smoky Mountain Wildflowers

Spent most of the weekend in The Great Smoky Mountains– had a beautiful hike and was able to really sink my teeth into some serious wildflower photography. It was great, a warm sunny day, nothing to do except play with the camera.
